Since all the year 2 students participated in the Commonwealth Bank Start Smart program we all received amazing VR headsets!!
The Teleporter Adventures is an expansion of CommBank’s award winning financial educational program Start Smart, which over the last 8 years has serviced more than 2 million students right around Australia.
The storybook, Sammy the Space Koala (downloadable PDF), teaches children the difference between a ‘need’ and a ‘want’ through an epic space adventure. At 3 different points during the book, users will be asked to ‘Teleport’ into the story using ‘The Teleporter Adventures’ app and a virtual reality headset. The virtual reality setting can also be turned off to allow the app to be experienced as a full-screen interactive game.
We hope you enjoy your Teleporter Adventures!
Last week, 2F and 2G learnt about Empathy and the purpose of showing Empathy to others. We discovered that Empathy is not just about understanding someone else’s emotions but it is also about sharing that emotion and finding a way to help.
Children had to select different emotions and come up with a way that they could help people who were experiencing that feeling.
Next we read a book called “I Think, I am” by Louise Hay. It is a book that teaches us all about the power of Affirmations and positive thoughts in our day-to-day lives.
From this we started to think about words and phrases that could change the way somebody thinks about themselves, the day they are having or feelings they may come across. We decorated different sized pebbles with kind and inspiring words. These will be displayed in our classrooms so we can refer to them when we are feeling down.
This term we have been curious about making different effects with paint. We tried blowing it, spinning it, pouring it and scraping it.
The art works below are made using a salad spinner. We made predictions about what would happen when we put the ink in the spinner and then gave it a spin. We think the effects are amazing.
When we finished spinning our work we used markers to draw contour lines around the shapes that the spinner had made. The ink made swirling shapes and patterns and even mixed together to make new colours. We hope you enjoy our work.
The results have come in and the hard work we’ve all been putting in has paid off. We have officially finished in the TOP 10 nationally for Word Mania. Classroom teachers will be handing out certificates to all students by the end of the week so make sure you celebrate our efforts. We are super proud of our amazing achievements!

Good Afternoon Parents and Carers!
Over the next two weeks our students will be participating in the Maths Superhero Challenge created by Manga High. Students can earn points for our school by completing any activities whether it may be, Games or Prodigi tasks. Students who demonstrate mastery earn medallions and each medal is worth a certain number of points.
We are encouraging students to complete activities and games over the next two weeks, to not only work towards participating in the challenge, but to built upon their maths knowledge.
We look forward to seeing what we can do over the next two weeks.
Best of luck to all who are participating.
